Heatherhurst - Crag Golf Course
Sister course of Brae. A touch shorter and every bit as scenic.
The completion of nine additional holes in mid-2000 created a brand new, par 72, 18 hole golf course called Heatherhurst Golf Club - The Crag Course. As with the Brae Course it is well maintained, with beautiful scenery and elevation change offering a great mix of both challenging and getable holes.
The original three nine-hole course combinations at Heatherhurst Golf Club in Fairfield Glade were all given 4 Stars by Golf Digest Places to Play.

Yes. The Crag suits foursomes and larger groups that want a scenic, enjoyable round without the same pressure as the Brae’s famous front nine. Bertram specializes in group bookings and can schedule Crag tee times alongside the Brae, with lodging at Country Club Villas or Premium Rentals and additional rounds at other Crossville-area courses.
Stonehenge is the nationally ranked headline course. Druid Hills offers mountain views and placement-based challenge. Dorchester is a secluded, tree-lined test with water on six holes. The Crag stands out as the more forgiving Heatherhurst option: wider fairways, bentgrass surfaces, wildlife-rich scenery, and a signature 17th overlook. Groups that want two rounds at one club often pair Brae plus Crag before branching out to other Fairfield Glade tracks.
The original nine-hole combinations at Heatherhurst Golf Club were each recognized with 4 Stars in Golf Digest’s Places to Play. The Crag course itself was created when nine additional holes were completed in the mid-2000s, giving Heatherhurst a second full 18 alongside the Brae. That history helps explain why the Heatherhurst name still carries weight among Fairfield Glade golf courses today.
Daily green fees at Heatherhurst are set by the club and vary by season and which course you play. For current walk-up pricing, contact the Heatherhurst pro shop at (931) 484-3799 or visit Fairfield Glade’s Heatherhurst Crag page. Through Bertram, Crag rounds are bundled into per-golfer package rates that include lodging, greens fees, carts paid in advance, and coordinated tee times.
Yes. Bertram packages include play at the courses of your choice, with no course restrictions. The Crag is a frequent add for groups who want a second Heatherhurst round or a more forgiving layout than the Brae. Bertram handles pre-set tee times so your group is not coordinating schedules with the pro shop on your own.
Yes. Heatherhurst Golf Club offers 36 holes across the Crag and Brae courses at the same location. Many groups plan a full day with lunch between rounds, playing one course in the morning and the other in the afternoon. That makes Heatherhurst a popular anchor for multi-round Crossville golf packages without driving between facilities.
The Crag course is a favorite among local deer, turkey, squirrels, and other wildlife that pass through the property. That adds to the scenic, mountain-resort feel of a Fairfield Glade round. Many visiting golfers remember the Crag as much for the setting as for the scorecard.
Yes. The Crag is often described as player-friendly, with tee locations spanning roughly 3,600 to 6,200 yards and wide fairways that reward straight shots over pure distance. Strategically placed bunkers keep better players honest, but the overall layout offers more getable holes than the Brae. It is a strong pick for mixed-ability groups where not everyone wants a championship test every round.
Hole #17 is the Crag’s signature hole. The teeing areas sit on an overlook with a view worth pausing for before you swing. It plays as a shorter hole, but driving accuracy still matters. It is the kind of memorable finishing stretch hole that gives the Crag its own identity separate from the Brae’s famous 4th and 10th.
The Crag is generally considered the more approachable of the two Heatherhurst courses. Wide fairways, multiple tee options, and a layout that mixes challenge with scoring chances make it popular with mid- to high-handicap groups. The Brae carries more reputation and teeth, especially on the front nine. Many Bertram groups play the Brae for the marquee round and the Crag for a fun, scorable second 18 the same day.
Heatherhurst Crag is inside Fairfield Glade on the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Knoxville. The club address is 421 Stonehenge Drive, Fairfield Glade, TN. From Bertram’s Country Club Villas lodging, Heatherhurst is a short drive within the community, which makes it easy to combine Crag rounds with Stonehenge, Druid Hills, or Dorchester on the same trip.
Both courses sit at the same club on 421 Stonehenge Drive, but they play differently. The Brae is longer, more celebrated in national rankings, and known for signature holes like the double-dogleg 4th and the downhill 10th overlooking Lake Dartmoor. The Crag is shorter and more player-friendly, with wider fairways that suit short hitters, bentgrass tees and greens, and a relaxed pace that pairs well as a second 18 after the Brae. Together they offer 36 holes at one property.
Heatherhurst Crag is the sister course to Heatherhurst Brae at Heatherhurst Golf Club inside Fairfield Glade Resort in Crossville, Tennessee. The Crag opened as a full 18-hole, par-72 layout in the mid-2000s when nine new holes were added to the original Heatherhurst complex. Designed by Gary Roger Baird, it is a touch shorter than the Brae but every bit as scenic, with elevation changes and a mix of challenging and getable holes.
